Curtis

Curtis was born in Cedar City, Utah. He is the sixth child of Royce and Alene Chamberlain. Royce was the oldest son of Lyle and Nancy Chamberlain of Glendale, Utah and he grew up at picturesque Hidden Lake Ranch on Highway 89. Alene was the oldest child of Hunter and Lela Gibson, spending her childhood in beautiful Enoch Utah. All of Curtis’ grandparents are from strong pioneer stock.

Curtis grew up on the East side of Cedar City. He has always stated that it was the best neighborhood for kids with Coal Creek, both city parks, the mountains, the ballparks, and even what was then the downtown area, all within a short bike or skateboard ride.

Curtis attended Cedar High School where he was Sophomore Class President, Boys Representative, and was (of course) voted Class Clown. He then attended Southern Utah University, majoring in Business with an emphasis in Small Business Management.

Curtis met and married his sweetheart Michelle Spackman (daughter of Brent and Theresa Spackman) at SUU and they recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. Curtis and Michelle raised five beautiful girls and they have been privileged to welcome five special grandchildren into the family.

Curtis has been a serial entrepreneur, founding and running multiple businesses for 3 decades. Curtis takes considerable pride in making each business the best it can be, leading the pack in each industry he has entered. Rainmaker Sprinkling Systems, Rainmaker Outdoor Property Maintenance, Rainmaker Snow Removal, Cedar City Upholstery, Cedar City Auto Repair, Chamberlain Distribution, (and now Cedar Valley Funeral and Cremation) have been his passion over these many years.

While founding and running all these businesses, Curtis maintained a part time job at Cedar City Hospital for 25 years. Most of that time was spent in the Emergency Room as an EMT/ER Tech. He loved patient care and the hands-on aspect of helping people at a critical time. His compassion and concern for others, along with a strong knowledge of his role in the ER, made him a respected contributor at the hospital.

Curtis only recently resigned his position in the Emergency Department, devoting more time to his family and his businesses. He states, however, that he has missed the ER, and being able to help those in his community at a challenging time in their lives. He knows this new venture will help fill that void as he assists families through a most tender time.
